Part 2 -   WE PHOTOGRAPH SOME OF THE BIRDS OF COSTA RICA

We saw many, many birds during our trip but were only able to photograph a few of them. We were able to catch glimpses of shore birds during the various boat rides. The hotels put out bird feeders that attracted a variety of birds and we were then able to get close enough to take some pictures. I am including two pictures of butterflies taken at a butterfly garden.

The hummingbirds at the feeders were a delight to watch but rarely stayed still long enough to have their picture taken.

Sometimes we were lucky enough to spot birds resting in the trees. There are tiny birds eating at the feeder placed atop a dead tree but they were easily scared away when we tried to move closer.

There were many, many birds resting along the shorelines, and when it was late in the day they assembled together to roost in the trees.

Toucan At The Feeder

It was a delight to watch the Macaws at their mating ritual in the trees.

The butterflies were unharmed and rapidly flew away.
